19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from March of that year.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.

His defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional championship, took control to create a decider.

He defended 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
